Lviv Okhmatdyt: Children with hearing impairments get a new chance thanks to cochlear implants
In Lviv, at the Ohmatdyt Center for Children's Medicine, a program to install cochlear implants for children with hearing impairments is successfully continuing. Over the past six months, Lviv otosurgeons, together with their foreign colleagues, have successfully performed three operations. Doctors note that 15-20 children with serious hearing impairments are born in Lviv Oblast every year.
This year, the Okhmatdyt Center plans to include its clinic in the state program for cochlear implantation to provide access to these important procedures for budgetary funds. The head of the clinic, Fedir Yurochko, emphasizes the importance of this method for children with hearing impairments, who owe it the opportunity to learn, achieve success and develop their talents.
Da Vinci Si in Lviv: Robot surgeon helps children at St. Nicholas Hospital
Lviv's St. Nicholas Hospital has an advanced robotic system aimed at performing surgeries for children. For the past three years, the Da Vinci robot has been successfully used for surgical interventions at St. Panteleimon Hospital for both children and adults. Now, thanks to the cooperation with Meest Express, the hospital has received two Da Vinci, one specifically for adults and one for children.
The Da Vinci Si robot is adapted for operations, including newborns, and this allows the hospital to plan to double the number of interventions, up to a hundred per year. Robotic surgery is characterized by faster recovery after complex operations, minimization of blood loss, risk of damage to surrounding organs, and precise preservation of nerve fibers, arteries, and veins. This allows patients who have undergone surgery with the help of a robot to be discharged 2-3 days after the intervention.
Artificial intelligence is now used in diagnostic tests
Zhytomyr Regional Clinical Hospital has introduced artificial intelligence for diagnostics using the BrainScan telemedicine solution. This is a cloud-based AI solution aimed at detecting brain lesions and pathologies.
During the period of adaptation, more than 600 diagnostic brain examinations were conducted in Zhytomyr. This technology allows doctors to get alternative opinions, minimize medical errors and speed up diagnosis, especially when the time is critical for a person's life.
