A substance that will increase the effectiveness of drugs against Alzheimer's disease by 5 times

A researcher at the University of Warsaw, Dr. Anna Zawadska, has identified a compound with inhibitory properties against the enzyme acetylcholinesterase. 

Existing drugs against Alzheimer's disease work by reducing the activity of the acetylcholinesterase enzyme. However, this new substance turned out to be 5 times stronger than these drugs and less toxic, making it an object of particular interest for further research and possible use in the treatment of patients with Alzheimer's disease.

New discovery: DNA determines the severity of multiple sclerosis

Scientists from the University of Cambridge and the University of San Francisco conducted a large-scale study involving 22,000 patients. Experts analyzed the patients' DNA and studied more than 7 million genetic variations. As a result, they found one gene that is associated with accelerated disease progression. Of course, further research is needed to accurately determine the relationship and its impact on the course of the disease.

Antibiotics will be eliminated by 20% in Europe by 2030

The EU Council estimates that more than 35,000 people die every year as a result of antibiotic resistance. European health ministers have adopted a joint recommendation aimed at strengthening the fight against antibiotic resistance. It is planned to reduce the use of antibiotics for medical purposes by 20% by 2030, and in the field of farm animals and aquaculture by 50% by 2030.
