Shadowless operating lamps: principle of operation

Use of surgical lamps

Surgical lights, also known as operating lamps, are primarily intended for use in operating rooms and surgical centers of hospitals, but can also be used in various departments of medical facilities to provide high-quality lighting during procedures.

The purpose of their use is to provide bright, even illumination of the work area, allowing doctors to visualize small details and structures, such as organs and tissues, with high clarity. Operating lights provide optimal conditions for surgical interventions and other medical procedures, increasing the accuracy of diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Can an operating light really eliminate shadows?

Operating LED lamps are designed to minimize shadows in the surgical field. Normally, when light falls on an opaque object, it creates a shadow, but surgical lights use technology that reduces the shadowing.

The round plate of the lamp contains lamps that emit light in all directions, increasing the area of the light source and reducing the size of the shadow. This creates a penumbra that is so light as to be invisible, and a shadowless effect is achieved, ensuring hassle-free operations.

At the same time, eliminating shadows completely can be a difficult task due to physical obstacles that block the light. However, the use of technologies such as multiple light sources and special optical systems helps to minimize them in the operational field.

Characteristics of operational lamps

Ensuring shadow control and the use of cold light are critical to a safe surgical field. Huifeng Medical's shadowless surgical lights take this into account by using a multi-reflector mechanism and filter to minimize heat radiation.

Light construction and a wide range of lighting adjustment ensure stability and comfort. A convenient removable handle allows you to easily adjust the desired light level using the central control panel.

Huifeng operating lamps meet the requirements of laminar flow in the operating room, providing purified air and maintaining sterility in the operating area. The shape of the lamp promotes convection circulation, which is a key aspect of the operating environment.

The realistic color of the light, close to natural, helps to easily distinguish the details of the tissues and reduces the strain on the eyes of the surgeons, promoting precise work.

Types of surgical light

According to the type of light source, two types can be distinguished: halogen and LED. Halogen lamps use the conversion of electrical energy into heat, and then into light, by heating the filament. This production method has low efficiency and high temperature. LED lamps are a cold light source that uses direct electro-optical conversion, resulting in low energy consumption and pronounced cold light for surgical lighting.

Depending on the installation method, operational lamps are classified as ceiling, wall, mobile, etc.

Taking into account functional requirements, single-dome, double-dome and multi-dome operating lamps can be distinguished. Double-dome lamps are the most practical: one of the lamp domes serves as the main light, providing the necessary illumination for the operation, while the other acts as an auxiliary light, providing additional light flow and compensating for blind spots from the main light source. In addition, the second dome can serve as backup lighting in case of problems with the main system, guaranteeing uninterrupted operation in all conditions.

What is a surgical lamp made of?

Lamp dome: This is the core of the work light, providing shadowless illumination of the work area. Different dome shapes include different functionalities.

Rotary lever: Connects the upper mounting device and the spring lever, rotates 360°, expanding the horizontal working area of the lamp.

Spring Arm: Balances the lamp dome for precise positioning anywhere, increasing the working area and movement of the lamp.

Mounting fixing component: It is in the form of a long hanging pipe with a flange construction that connects to the ceiling and the hidden part of the ceiling, providing a secure fixing.

The assortment of the Loran Group medical equipment company includes a wide selection of surgical lighting that meets the needs of modern medicine. Our manager will help you choose the most optimal model of the operating lamp, taking into account the field of use, the characteristics of the room and the budget.

The loran.ua website presents various models of operating lamps, developed taking into account the requirements of efficiency, reliability and safety. These lamps are distinguished not only by high-quality lighting, but also by innovative functions that contribute to the comfortable and efficient work of surgeons.
