Loran Group completed the installation of the PLA-800 plasma surgical system for arthroscopy in a hospital of the Sumy region for orthopedic procedures. The equipment has been commissioned in the operating unit for arthroscopic and minimally invasive joint surgery.
Plasma Technology in Orthopedics
This orthopedic device operates using low-temperature plasma generated in a saline solution under radiofrequency energy. The plasma field enables precise tissue resection, ablation and coagulation at temperatures of 40-70 °C. This approach reduces thermal impact on surrounding structures and ensures controlled treatment of the surgical area.
The system is used for procedures on the knee, shoulder, hip and small joints such as the wrist, elbow and ankle. It allows debridement, resection, relaxation, and treatment of the meniscus, cartilage, synovium, tendons and other intra-articular structures.
The controlled plasma field minimizes thermal damage to adjacent tissues. The bipolar electrode design enhances procedural safety and reduces the risk of unintended impact on peripheral areas.
Functional Capabilities of the PLA-800 Cold Plasma System
The system supports resection and coagulation modes, automatically identifies the probe type and monitors the footswitch connection status. Real-time impedance monitoring stabilizes energy delivery and reduces the risk of tissue overheating. Hardware protection automatically stops energy output in case of short circuit.
The device is used for minimally invasive procedures that, depending on the clinical situation, may be performed under local anesthesia. This approach helps optimize postoperative recovery.
