In modern urology, it is important not only to have powerful equipment but also to maintain control over every stage of a surgical procedure. The combination of power, precision, and ease of use gives physicians greater flexibility during surgery.
Vitaliy Svystula, Head of the Department of Urology and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the 5th Hospital of Lviv Clinical Medical Center 2, shared his practical experience with laser equipment. In the video, he discusses his experience using the Quanta System 150 W holmium laser in daily urological practice and highlights its key advantages.
Practical experience with the laser
According to the physician, the system is actively used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia through holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP). The equipment can be used for procedures on prostates of different sizes. During more than six months of use, the hospital has already performed 76 such procedures.
The laser is also used to treat urolithiasis, while its capabilities include the diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract tumors, including tumors of the ureters and kidneys. Among its key advantages, the physician highlights modernity, ease of use, high quality, and effectiveness.
Features of the Quanta System 150 W holmium laser
The system operates at a wavelength of 2.1 μm and provides up to 152 W of power, pulse energy of up to 5 J, and a frequency of up to 100 Hz. This combination of parameters allows it to be used for lithotripsy, enucleation, and soft tissue surgery.
For retropulsion control, the system features Vapor Tunnel, Virtual Basket, and MasterPULSE technologies. In particular, Vapor Tunnel helps reduce retropulsion during stone treatment, while the dual footswitch allows the operator to quickly change modes without interrupting the procedure.
The equipment also supports incision, resection, ablation, vaporization, coagulation, and hemostasis of soft tissues, expanding its range of applications in surgical practice.
